Top 3 Homeopathic Remedies For Skin Health

Homeopathy has been a passion of mine for the past few years hence I decided to do a degree in it. Working with this gentle but effective form of medicine has shown me over and over again that it does not need a strong chemical cocktail from the pharmacy to treat skin concerns. Homeopathy in combination with a great skincare regimen can often be the key to healthy and radiant skin. Sprinkle some Ayurveda on top and you are ready to go. But today I would like to keep it simple (as always) and try to narrow it down to my top three homeopathic recommendations for inner skin health.

Morgan Bach

This remedy is part of what we call Bowel Nosodes. It is derived from gut bacteria and is acting on the digestive tract. It is great for patients where we find a lot of congestion- sluggish digestion or constipation for example. The skin can be dry to the point that it can crack and bleed. There might be itchiness and dryness which might be aggravated by heat or after washing the face. Sun exposure might aggravate the skin. The patient might also have a tendency towards anxiety and depression. Morgan Bach is a great remedy for skin conditions like eczema, acne or rosacea.

Another great remedy is Silica. The skin can appear waxy and unhealthy. It takes much longer for the skin to heal after an eruption. The result can be ice pick scars and discolouration. Acne blemishes can be itchy and quite aggressive to the point of forming a boil. The skin might be sensitive to touch and might have pustules (the spots that have a juicy filling!). The unhealthy appearance can extend to your nails and hair which might be brittle. If that sounds like a bit of you this remedy might be just what your skin needs.

Berberis Aquifolium

This remedy is a beautiful way of reducing blemished, pimples, rashes, eczema or psoriasis. The skin might be dry and rough to touch with an uneven complexion. Due to it's healing benefits it can reduce the appearance of scars and post inflammation hyperpigmentation (the nasty little red/ coppery spots that are left on your skin weeks after a break out). This plant medicine can be bought as a gel to apply topically but you can also buy the tincture or homeopathic pills to support inner skin health. It can also be very useful for dry eczema that extends from the scalp to the face and neck.
